Our newest family member - 8 week old Max. Max comes to us from Yukonwind Siberians and is a full brother of Ike, who's from an earlier litter. Their mom is Rosebud and their dad is Blue. Not having chosen a name we called him Max rather than "hey you" the day he came home with us and he picked it up. Smart little guy, comes to Max and only Max.
Sibes love to play rough. These 2 brothers are not fighting, they are having a blast. Both are still puppies, 4 months and 23 months. This is at the beach in mid October, 2007 This is Max enjoying a walk on the beach, exploring and having a great puppy dog adventure. Dog fishing?

Siberian Huskys are Amazing Creatures
beautiful, intelligent, personable, friendly, opportunistic, loving, happy, driven, logical, endearing, loyal, mischievous, energetic, clever, communicative
It's remarkably easy to teach a Siberian what you want from him, they're very smart. It's not so easy to get them to do it, they're very smart and want to know "why" or "what's in it for me". Often a Siberian owner will mistake this for stupidity. It's not. He knows what you want, but you need to give him a reason. Talk to him, don't talk down to him. He's a pack animal and needs your companionship. If you need to discipline a Siberian, don't hit him, ignore him, simply pretend you can't even see him....he's a pack animal and craves your attention. He'll get the message. Soon the "what's in it for me" question will be answered in the Siberians' mind with "the love and attention of my companion" and then you have him trained. It really is as simple as that.
It's important to understand that you don't own a Siberian Husky, you share your life with him. You're part of his pack. You own each other. Respect him and he'll return the favor.
