Family Freak Show - Life With Siberian Huskies

Our newest family member - 8 week old Max. Max comes to us from Yukonwind Siberians and is a full brother of Ike, who's from an earlier litter.  Their mom is Rosebud and their dad is Blue.

Not having chosen a name we called him Max rather than "hey you" the day he came home with us and he picked it up. Smart little guy, comes to Max and only Max.

Carob/Date Breakfast Bars

Ingredients:

• 3 cups of brown rice flour
• 2 cups of oats
• 1/2 cup of chopped dates
• 1/2 cup of ground almonds
• 1/4 cup of finely ground flax, pumpkin or sunflower seeds
• 3 dried, finely ground eggshells
• 2 tablespoons of carob powder
   
• 4 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses
• 3 tablespoons of safflower oil
• 4 large eggs
• 1/4 cup of plain yogurt
• 2 tablespoons of honey
• Optional, but highly nutritious: 1 tablespoons dried alfalfa

Directions:

• Mix together all the wet ingredients and beat well, stirring in the hot water, a bit at a time.
• In a separate bowl, combine flours, fruit, nuts and seeds; add eggshell and carob.
• When fully blended, make a well in the center and pour in the liquid mixture.
• Stir to combine then spread into a well greased baking pan.
• Bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
• Cut into large bars for meal replacements, small for treats.

The bars can be refrigerated for up to a week. Freeze anything you need to keep longer.
